Tired Of Falling Figures? Fixed With Our Perfect Action Figure Foot Stands!

One of the biggest problems I’ve heard from collectors is that some of their action figures just will not stay standing up! Even when they include peg stands, some figures fall over time and again.

I certainly found that with my Marvel Legends X-Men ‘97 Series Magneto figure - it’s got a big heavy plastic cape hanging off of the back of him so no matter what I tried he would not stand on his own. I even designed and printed some peg stands specifically for him. Even though those did work, that meant that I always had to have both feet down on the stand in exactly the same place, which wasn’t exactly what I wanted. I also found that those same pegs didn’t fit in other Marvel Legends figures, further contributing to the hassle.

As a fellow collector, I've been eager to find a solution that would keep my action figures standing upright. As always I prefer to showcase the figures, not draw attention to the methods used to stabilize them.

After staring at the feet of these collectibles for quite awhile, I came up with a new solution - a foot holder stand! This stand has angled holders mounted on a flat base that allows the foot of any action figure to slide into it, holding it in place!

While it was kind of a pain to design in Fusion 360 - which I have limited skills in and I don’t find easy to design curved, more organic models in - this actually worked perfectly on my first try! After printing out my first one in black and seeing how it fit my DC Multiverse joker amazingly well, I knew I had something!

The way it’s designed is meant to accommodate multiple different sizes and styles of feet, by angling out high and wide and narrowing in as it goes forward. I’ve also designed this to be strong - you can see how it kind of melds into the base - that way it’s very unlikely that it would break off!

The foot holder fits multiple types of feet - for instance really small feet like Jean Grey’s, while also fitting a large boot like Bishop’s. It also fits Nightcrawler’s two-clawed feet, and even will accommodate Funko Pop feet!

To ensure that this solution was as versatile as possible, I decided to offer the foot stands in multiple colors. I also created a few different variations to meet different display needs:

  • Foot Stand Only - this is just the base stand that makes it easy to keep your action figures standing on any flat surface. The simple base design keeps the focus on the figures themselves.
  • Wall Mount Foot Stand - for a space-saving wall-mounted display, this version includes a 3M command strip to securely attach the stand to the wall without causing damage. The floating shelf also includes a screw hole if you decide later to more securely mount it. This option makes it really easy to put your figures wherever you’d like with some empty wall space.
  • 6-Level Display Riser - I designed a 6-level display riser that accommodates the included foot stands. This makes it easy to create a dynamic, tiered display of your figure collection.

And more to come! I actually really like the display riser idea and will be coming up with several different options for it.

I’ve also had the same problem with some of my Hot Toys figures - the main problem is typically that they have “weak ankles” - even though you’ve got them standing and balanced perfectly, the ankle joint is super easy to move and so they just fall forward! That actually happened with my ¼ scale The Dark Knight Rises Batman figure - one morning I found him on the floor and was not pleased!

Finding a way to prevent weak ankles from causing figures to fall is one of my next tasks. I’ll likely look into designing something that has this foot holder attached to some sort of rising clamp for the leg. Sort of like a 3D-printed ankle brace!
