About Us

We're John & Ariane - we use 3D-printing to make things that solve problems, make great displays, and that people just love.

It's us! This is who makes up Superhero DIY.

It started when Ariane got the family to go in on a 3D-printer for John - a Wanhao Duplicator i3. The first thing John made was little hexagons with a rectangle in the middle for his new Iron Man (MK46) costume!

The next big thing was a replacement knob for the one he broke (with his knee) in Ariane's car - a fix that actually turned out to be extremely useful to hundreds and hundreds of Toyota owners!

From there, creating props like batarangs or full costumes or helmets was the main activity. This hobby, coupled with a love of superhero movies, gave the "Superhero" part of the business name. But since Ariane was very interested in upgrading the house and John is really good with his hands, we add a "DIY" on there after we completely gutted and remodeled the bathroom, then office/mudroom, oh yeah and the rest of the house!

Superhero DIY really took off after we found out that people really liked displaying their Funko Pops but didn't have a really good way to do it. John had exactly two Funkos: Justin Timberlake and Arkham Batman - and was able to create a simple yet incredibly functional and aesthetically-pleasing wall shelves called the "Floating Figure Shelves". From there, we came up with hundreds of solutions for easily displaying all kinds of collectibles using wall space you already have.

And since both John and Ariane love reading in bed, we came up with a great Kindle stand for laying in bed, reading while laying on your side. And we both love coffee, so we made some great holders for our Nespresso pods. Heck - both John and our son play hockey, so we made some great gear organizers for the garage, puck holders for his room, stick holders, etc. etc.

I think you get the idea. We solve problems that we have, and it seems others have the same ones - and love the solutions we come up with!

Lately, and since John was in the Army, he's pivoted to making all that military insignia that comes with it. It takes a really long time to hand-sketch and design three-dimensional versions of insignias that are made for 3D-printing, but creating something that looks great (and shiny) is truly rewarding. With so many soldiers, sailors, Marines, and airmen really loving these creations, we're going to continue further down that path!
